It was the perfect follow-up to our Natural Resources unit: an excursion to Waste Management Services. Students learned all about recycling and non-renewable natural resources. Students mine for 'coal' by using toothpicks to remove chocolate chips from the surrounding 'cookie earth'. Discussion included reflection about what happens after we use up all our non-renewable resources? A student shares an architectural Lego book with the class while the audience prepares to ask questions. Change is good. Students receive new spots in shared learning space as well as new table assignments. Let's get to know new friends!

The classroom was buzzing with excitement as first-graders prepared to teach the elementary school students about water at Friday's Round Up. Each student had an opportunity to share their knowledge about our precious resource, water! Here Sophia shows us she is ready to present!
