We started buddy time today with our 6th grade buddies! Today we introduced ourselves and then got out into the garden and worked together to plant some peas and beets! We will meet with our 6th grade buddies for various activities every couple of Fridays at the end of the day.

Mr. Leventhal, DGS science teacher, made it into our class to begin a seed experiment with our guys. He read a story about sunflowers and then all our students began to work with bean seeds, damp paper towels, and ziplock baggies to get the seeds germinating. After a few days, we pulled the baggies from the windows and began our experiment in which some seedlings/sprouts were planted in sand, soil, and dirt. We created a graph and made predictions about where the seeds are likely to grow. 16 predict the seedlings will grow in dirt, 6 predict that the seedlings will grow in sand, and 24 predict that the seedlings will grow in soil. We are currently watering our seedlings and monitoring their progress.
