Students learn about units of measurement in Math. It was fun to measure different things in our garden using our feet! It's easy to focus on Reader's Workshop when you pick a cozy spot outside. Every Thursday students check out our class garden to see what it growing and do some weeding. We also planted sunflower seeds along the exterior garden fence. Fun!

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science visited 1st-grade this week. They brought a teepee and other artifacts aimed at teaching students about a different culture. It was Step-Up day for primary grades. First-graders prepared the room for kindergarten to visit. Students also asked questions about going to 2nd-grade prior to visiting with 2nd-grade classroom teachers.
Students wrote notes and made paper flowers to express gratitude for our school's office assistants. It was our last Buddy Day and 8th grade received appreciation notes from their first-grade buddies. These students are spending Quiet Time reading a book together.
